First and foremostly we are here to have fun, that being said however rules are essential to ensure the smooth running of the league and enjoyment of all.
Playing Name
Your pogo name should be as close as possible to your league name, however if for some special reason it is not, please ensure the TD is both aware and gives the ok for another name to be used. If you continually use another name please ask staff for help to change your league name to match.
Please listen to the TD, and abide by any decisions made by the TD, if there is a dispute or you feel a decision is not correct raise the matter with an admin at a later stage, please do NOT disrupt the tour or argue with the TD at the table.
Abuse
We have a no tolerance policy on abusive behaviour and vulgar language:
1. You will be told;
2. You will be warned;
3. You will be dq’d from the tourney.
Lobby Disturbances
Euchre Manners
If you go alone on 9 you may be dq’d (at the TD’s discretion you may be warned if new or unaware of the rule otherwise it’s a DQ). Going alone on 8 is not penalised as it can be a legitimate strategy to win the game.
At NO time is this counted as a 2 point error it is either a DQ or a warning according to the TD's decision
Timing
If you go poof during a game you have 10 minutes in total per tournament to return, (clock will be stopped when you return and are showing as JOINED the table).
If you go poof again clock will be resumed from whatever time it was stopped at (TD's will use Cases boot timer or similar).
If you do not return at all within 10 mins you will have to be dq’d from the tourney. (Clock does NOT stop at the end of the round). This time is reduced to 5 minutes for quickie games.
If a member poofs and does not play any cards at all in a round (game) and the round ends without them rejoining then they will NOT advance. The player is dq'd regardless of the time involved in the round.
If you get booted 3 times during the tourney you will have to be dq’d
Members have 5 mins to get to the table once pairs are called , (playing a ladder, or rated game, jumping and not joining the room, or going afk and not joining table within 5 mins of being called will all cause you to be DQ'd). The exception to this is if a member was in the lobby and poofs, in which case the 10 min (or 5min) rule applies.
THERE ARE 2 SPECIAL EXCEPTIONS TO THE TIME RULE:
- WHEN THE ROOM IS FULL....
- WHEN MULTIPLE PEOPLE ARE HAVING PROBLEMS CAUSED BY POGO
THEN THE HOST CAN MAKE A DECISION TO ADD 5 EXTRA MINUTES ON !!
If a member is playing rated and has jumped and does not come immediately to a table if called this is they may be instantly DQ'd. Please be considerate of your TD and your fellow members.
SLOW OR NO PLAY
Table will be timed by TD if exceptionally slow
Same Household Members
Direct family members or people sharing the same household will not be p'd together.
To alleviate any suspicion of cheating TDs will cross pair those living in the same households or others as deemed necessary. This does NOT mean we suspect you of cheating but that we are cross pairing as to avoid any accusations.
Errors
During specials players have till the first card of the next hand is PLAYED to call an error. This is because some specials eg Reverse require all cards to be played before an error can be ascertained.
Error points are as described by the rules of the game. All players should stand and one person from each team should keep a manual score. The table setter must write the score down before standing and confirm this in chat. All errors count and it is NOT within the TD's powers to remove error penalties.
Watchers need to be league members unless granted special permission by the TD.
Table Talk
We attempt to take a sensible approach to this but telling what is in your hand or telling your partner what to play is considered cheating and may get you dq'd from the tour. If you have a new member as a partner who has not played gimmicks before please feel free to ask the td to run the rules again.
Laddering
In ladder matches it is the responsibility of the LOSER to report the match. Ask winner for exact ladder name and report match via the link on the main page. Members may ladder one another up to 4 times per day.
Due to cases recent boxing of players for failing to complete formal challenges the facility has been disabled.
However we DO want an active ladder so if you are in the top 10 you must make every effort to play any member who asks you to ladder or you will be penalised.
If a top 10 player is present and does not respond or does not ladder when requested it must be reported to the TD on duty.. and post a formal challenge on the shout box. Please note you cannot do this unless you have notified the TD and both you and the player you wish to ladder were present in the lobby.
The td will then record it and notify the admin responsible for recording un-played challenges.
If the admin responsible determines there is no reasonable excuse for not completing the challenge,
the following penalty will be enforced:the following penalty will be enforced:the following penalty will be enforced:
2 challenges not reasonably completed in a 3 day period 5 rungs demotion
4 challenges not completed in a 3 day period 10 rungs demotionTo report an un-played challenge please email Brat at euchreholicbrat@yahoo.ca include unplayed challenge in the subject line, time/date and td on duty when you requested a ladder and the opponents name.
Partnering
Please do not ask the Host to P in a final if there is a member available. The TD needs to be free to assist all members and therefore should not P unless there is no one else to do so.
As a courtesy to other members please ask in the LOBBY for someone to p you.
During the final game or a game where only 2 opponents are playing against each other, players may use either Ps or Bots.
However should not enough P’s be available for both (and both be asking for a p) then bots will be used for both.If the game is a special and this situation occurs then players will have a choice of reg STD with bots or red then black with bots.
*Please note this means one player may elect to use a bot and the other a p if that's what they desire.*
If the tour is running late players may well be asked by the TD to use bots in the final, however they can also elect to play a 1st to 5 “quickie” instead.
Finally
Please report all matches immediately to the td
Be respectful of your fellow players, and if there is a problem alert the TD
Most importantly - HAVE FUN in the best euchre league on pogo!
